DescriptionChemical and hose truck with self-starter, ladder, and two chemical tanks. Carries fire axes, reel of hose, and siren. Two canisters painted silver on each side of the back running board. Back tires are original solid rubber. Wheels have wooden spokes. Battery and ignition were added at a later date. This 1919 Ford "Deluge" model "CH" was purchased by the Tempe town government in 1920, along with 500 feet of hose, for a total cost of $2920. The truck remained in service until 1940, when it was replaced by newer equipment. From then on, this truck was used in local parades until it was donated to Tempe Historical Society in 1972.
