DescriptionThis chair is made of maple and has two rockers. It has two bell-and-baluster and bobbin turned front legs, which are attached to the rockers with doweled joints. There are two vertical, rectangular, curved stiles from foot to crest. Between the front two legs there are two bell-and baluster and bobbin turned stretchers. There are two plain stretchers on both the left and right side and one at the back. The seat consists of cane which has been wrapped around a frame. It has been secured with string and staples. The front legs extend to form arm stumps, onto which curved arm rests have been attached. These are also secured to the stiles. A large woven cane back rest has been attached to rails just above the seat and just below the crest rail. The rails in turn have been attached to the stiles. Nails and staples have been used to secure the cane at the back. A crest rail is attached to the stiles with mortise and tenon joints and is scalloped underneath.
