DescriptionTwo Harness Sectional Beam Rug Loom. Loom has 12 dent reed, 45" beam, 500 12" wire heddles. Warp beam ratchet, cloth beam ratchet, and handles for both are cast (?) iron. Frame of loom is wood, fastened together with nuts, bolts, and washers. Numerous extra washers have been added as spacers where the lay is bolted to the base piece. Steel chain attaches harness with 5 ply twisted steel wire and hooks and eyes. There is a "castle" on the uprights to hold shuttles, yarn, tools, etc. Apron on the cloth beam is made of denim, somewhat worn. A bobbin holder and thread guide with space for 30 spools takes up the whole length of the lower treadle strip. Warp threads (predominantly white cotton and blue threads) are tied up through reed and hedles, but attached to neithetr beam. Lenths of this cotton warp are also wrapped a few times around the sectional warp beam. Loom is lacking lease sticks. Loom is worm and somewhat soiled looking, but with replacement of wire heddles appears to be able to be used. See attached Xerox copy of accompanying instruction manual. Made by Union Loomworks in Boonville, New York.
