DescriptionThis was one of two totem poles used to decorate the outside of the Goodwin Store in Tempe. Carved in high relief with many stacked emblems and elements, including a bear, badger, animal and men with hollowed furrow at the back. Surfac is completely painted in variety of colors, mainly primary. Previously owned by Kemper Goodwin, who ran a curio shop on Mill Avenue. The donor is his son. Michael Goodwin stored both poles in his backyard prior to donating them the the museum. Gift from the children of Mickey and Kemper Goodwin: Mary Helen, Kathleen and Michael.
