DescriptionUS Army leather cartridge holder/pouch that holds twelve rounds of 38 caliber pistol ammunition in a wooden block (no rounds present). Heavy guage brass wire hook attached to upper, back side of pouch and passes through two brass eyelets -- this hook is used to attach the pouch to a ca. 1910 period army belt (the modification for this wire hook was done ca. 1910). Marked with large "US" in oval on front. Marked on back with [Rock Island]/ Arsenal/ 1903 - TC (inspector mark). Note that Rock Island portion is hard to read/ practically invisible. Stamped on top with various unit designations that the recorder does not recall (at time this was written the item was in storage and not in front of the recorder).
