ProvenanceHoward Pyle was a WWII war correspondent for KTAR. He was Governor of Arizona from 1950-1952. He became President Eisenhower's Deputy Assistant, and then was appointed President of the National Safety Council in 1959, serving in that position for 15 years. He was very involved in Tempe community service. He died in Tempe on December 1, 1987 at the age of 81.
The Pyle home at 1120 Ash Avenue, Tempe, was built in 1938. The Pyles owned it for 27 years.
