DescriptionPhotograph depicts the 1955 fire that consumed Tempe Union High School. Note the smoke coming from the windows of the 3-story brick building and 4 people standing in the front.

Photograph shows fire that consumed the original Tempe High School on the corner of University Drive & Mill Avenue on January 13, 1955.

This building was no longer in use as a school campus at the time of the fire. The new Tempe Union High School located at Broadway and Mill Avenue opened in 1953, and all students transferred to the new campus. The architect for the new school campus was Kemper Goodwin.
