Welcome, Mariners -
Tempe Mayor Bill LoPiano gives opening speech welcoming Seattle Mariners to Tempe for spring training season, just before Mariners played their first training exhibition game with the Oakland A's yesterday before crowd of from 1,500 to 2,000 a t Tempe Stadium. Warming up in the bull pen, so to speak, in the background are (at left) Rudy Campbell, member of Tempe Diablos and (to right) Baseball Commissioner Bowie Kuhn, who between them tossed the first ball for the game.
