DescriptionFrom the Tempe Daily News May 24, 1977, caption read: Marcos de Niza High School senior Debbie Maxwell takes a breather after a whirlwind week in Washington, D.C., as one of the several Valley high school students who participated recently in the national "Close Up Program" aimed at giving high school students a first-hand look at government in action. Debbie and eight other Valley students who made the trip reported on the program at a meeting at the Pera Club in Tempe recently for representatives of businesses who helped sponsor the program, the media and other guests.
