DescriptionIt wasn't the beginning of a riot or the start of a race on the Arizona State University campus that was creating all the hullabaloo around Gammage auditorium yesterday. Ford Motor Company's new Econoline 150 van was attracting all the student excitement-or so it will seem to television viewers! Crew form Johnson-Cowan, Inc., of Hollywood, California, was shooting scene for a Ford television commercial and approximately 86 ASU students and other local people were providing the action, so ASU could benefit-in the form of a Ford contribution to the university's student scholarship and loan funds. When the commercial debuts, viewers will discover how many students ASU could pack into the van. The Ford company claims it will hold more than 100.-Tempe Daily News article, July 13, 1977.
