DescriptionFrom a photograph caption appearing on page 5 of the Tempe Daily News, September 20, 1977:Lions Lauded - Tempe Lions Club members and their ladies gathered at Mont's for a special awards dinner and ladies night, Thursday - honoring club members for outstanding service in the past year. From left are James Matson, recognized for his service as 1976-77 secretary; outgoing president Vern Wood, given plaque in appreciation for his services by new President Mel Kroehler (center); San Nay, whose 39 years of Lions membership was recognized with a Distinguished Service Award; and Addison Alber, given "Tail Twister" award for his job last year - collecting fines from members in the spirit of good-natured fun. Not pictured is Jack Nolte, also recipient of Distinguished Service Award and recognition for his 36 years as a member
