Hapless bike rider might have had better luck trying to follow a yellow brick road than he did trying to follow the "road" across the Salt River via the old Tempe Bridge, Saturday morning. Unidentified man rode his bike from the north end of the old and long unused bridge and didn't know until it was too late that the south end access has been eroded over the years and the end of the road was a deep chasm. Tempe Paramedics gave emergency treatment and the bicyclist was taken to Tempe Community Hospital where he reportedly was to undergo minor surgery.
