DescriptionFrom a front page photo caption appearing in Tempe Daily News, Saturday, September 9, 1978:

All 'Fired Up' For The Game? - Sun Devil fans who saw smoke billowing forth from the ASU stadium scoreboard late yesterday afternoon may have thought the Sun Devils were getting a little too "fired up" - literally - for this evening's opening football game of the season with University of the Pacific. But it was neither the team nor the scoreboard causing all the smoke. Tempe Fire Department, called to the scene, said foam rubber packing material in a wooden crate underneath the scoreboard caught on fire when hot material fell into it while a workman was using a cutting torch for work on the scoreboard - and generated a lot of smoke.
The film negative of this photograph is housed in box 2G8-C.
