DescriptionTaken from Tempe Daily News - September 22, 1978:Virigina Thompson, who served for 10 years as Tempe City clerk, was honored Wednesday with a going away luncheon at the Spaghetti Company in downtown Tempe. Mrs. Thompson, who was actively involved in community affairs, was considered an outstanding city official. However, she retired as of yesterday to prepare for her upcoming wedding to her high school sweetheart, Cam Merlino. Gathering for the event were officials and friends and family, from left Don Hull, community development director, Bob and Joyce Thompson, son and daugther-in-law; daughter Sharon Thompson; Virginia Thompson and fiance Cam Merlino.
