DescriptionThis picture includes ten (10) players in uniforms consisting of dark pants and white shirts with "UNION" on the front. One man in the center of the second row is wearing a pea coat. Men in the front row hold a mask, a glove and a bat.

A March 3, 1892 notice in the Arizona Republican newspaper (p.4) identifies the "Union" base ball team as coming from "Alma" - this is certainly the Alma School Road area, aka "Stringtown," area of Mesa. Notice also says team is champion of the territory and that they will play the Tempe team in an upcoming game in Tempe on Saturday.
