The uppermost metal portion of this badge is gold and ornate with ivory inset "PORTA ESTANDARTE". Along the bottom edge of this top piece are two small chains that attach to a medallion with a gold Mexican national eagle on top (the eagle is perched on prickly pear cactus with a snake in its beak).
