DescriptionYoung man with older gentleman, standing and smiling at the camera at Haydens Ferry Arts & Craft Fair. One is wearing an Arizona State University hat, the other is wearing a "Sardine Express Flood of 1980" t-shirt. They are standing in front of a storefront window with sun catchers on display.
The Sardine Express was the nickname of the Hattie B, an Amtrak train that took commuters across the Salt River in early 1980 after flood waters washed out most of the bridges. It was said that passengers were packed on the train like sardines.
