DescriptionFrom donor file: "A diorite pecked and polished green Hohokam three-quarter (3/4) groove axe with highly polished, slightly chipped blade, slightly battered poll, smooth & sharply angled edges. Groove is uniformly pecked. Some unpolished, pecked areas on other surfaces of axe. Donor says object found west of Buckeye." In the NAGPRA report, the axe's culture is listed as Hohokam, and its cultural affiliation is Pima/Tohono O'Odham. Its geographic location is Southern Arizona, and both the report and file estimate its age was possibly Pioneer, which equates to 500-700 A.D.
