Came to Tempe in 1939.
Graduated from Ohio University in 1931, and received his M.D. degree from the University of Cincinnati Medical School in 1935. He did his internship at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.
He moved to Arizona in 1935 and served as a contract surgeon for the Civilian Conservation Corps, and established a medical practice in Pima, Arizona, in 1937. He served as the state surgeon for the National Youth Administration. Moved to Tempe in 1939.
In addition to his private practice, he was the college physician for Arizona State College and was a part-time physician for the City of Tempe. In 1941'42 was a physician at 14 E 5th St. He served on the Board of Directors of the Maricopa County Medical Society, and was the medical chairman to promote the construction of Mesa Lutheran Hospital. Member of the 320th Medical Battalion, 95th Division, and was promoted from first lieutenant to captain by General George S. Patton. He received the Bronze Star and other decorations during World War II. After the war, he was commissioned as a captain in the Arizona National Guard, where he organized a medical company. He later commanded the Selective Services Section and was state surgeon when he retired as a brigadier general in 1970.
Member of the Tempe Elks Club, Tempe Historical Society, and Arizona Country Club.
Lived at 602 Tyler in 1940.
