BiographyArrived in Tempe in 1908.
Farmer and freighter.
About 1858, he moved from Cincinnati, Ohio, to Iowa, where he married. He then went West, through New Mexico, Colorado, and other states with a covered wagon drawn by mules. He arrived in Arizona in 1877, and took up a homestead on the San Pedro River near
Winkleman. After raising his children and losing his wife, he moved to Tempe in 1908. He proved up a claim on a farm under the Highline Canal south of Tempe. He later moved to Phoenix where he lived with his daughter until he died.
