BiographyCame to Tempe in 1888.
Businessman and farmer.
Farmed in McLean County Illinois for 19 years, then farmed in Crawford County, Kansas, for several more years. In December 1888, he came to Arizona and settled on an undeveloped tract of land near Tempe. He had expanded his homestead to 635 acres by time of his death.
He became a director of the Tempe Irrigating Canal Company; President and director of the Farmers and Merchants Bank; and a director of the Bank of Tempe.
He lived on a ranch southeast of Tempe, near the present location of Broadway and Price
roads.
Member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
He died 20 Jun 1899, in Tempe, after being dragged and kicked to death by his frightened horse.
