She came from Missouri, traveling in a covered wagon with her family in 1877.
She entered the Territorial Normal School in Tempe on the first day it opened, 6 Feb 1886. She graduated in June 1888 and taught one year near Gila Bend, and one year at the Double Butte School near Tempe.
