BiographyFarmer in 1923, rancher.
Came to Tempe in 1876.
Came from Arkansas with his family and the Holmesley family and settled in Prescott, Arizona, in 1876. They decided to move to Phoenix, but met Charles Trumbull Hayden, who persuaded them to move to Hayden's Ferry (Tempe). He homesteaded a 180-acre farm south of Tempe. In 1885, he offered to donate land and raise money for purchasing the site of the proposed Territorial Normal School in Tempe. He always attended the
Arizona Republic Pioneer Reunion and the Old Settlers picnic in Tempe. He held a reunion of the pioneer families in Walker's Grove in 1924.
He owned SE4 section 27 (158 acres) in 1924.
Lived at 818 McAllister Avenue in 1921-29, in 1929 his widow lived there. .
