BiographyFarmer, Night Marshal.
Came to Tempe c1891.
Started farming in Tempe in 1891. In 1895, he and his wife and small son returned to Kansas for one year, then returned to the Salt River Valley. He went into the dairy business. Worked for the Pacific Creamery Company as a driver, foreman, and mechanic, c1905-1920. Took up duties as Tempe night marshal, c1920. On January 11, 1921, he was shot and killed as he responded to a robbery at the Baber-Jones store. The Town Council approved a claim of $178.50 for his funeral. His funeral at the Christian Church was one of largest ever held in Tempe. Most of the businesses in Tempe closed for one hour.
Lived at 1125 Van Ness Avenue. In 1923. His widow lived at 508 Mill Ave in 1932.
