DescriptionThe chair has bulb turned front legs and two vertical stiles from feet to crest which are also bulb turned. The left stile is patched towards the bottom. The front two stretchers are vase-ring-and-bulb turned. The three remaining sides have two plain stretchers each. Doweled joints attach the stretchers to the legs/stiles. An apron is attached under the front of the seat. A thin piece of wood is in the center of the seat with a pressed, floral design. It is attached by silver tacks. Bent brackets reinforce the stiles and are attached with screws. The right bracket is splintered underneath. There is a pressed bottom rail with a scroll design. Mortise and tenon joints attach the crest and bottom rail to the chair. Six vase-ring-and- bulb turned spindles are attached to the crest and bottom rail, these are attached with doweled joints. The crest rail has a scalloped edge. The top of the rail sits above the top of the stile. It is pressed and has a leafy scroll design.
