"Photograph of "Round-up" outfit of the cowmen of Calfax County, New Mexico, taken in July 1888. Location: On Red (Canadian) River, about 18 miles northwest of Raton, NM. Breakfast was over and we were about to start the days ride that would end with our return to camp about dark. While working from this camp I saw near a thicket about a half mile east (to the right) of the camp the first road runner, Chaparrel Cock I had ever seen"
