DescriptionFrom an article/photograph published in Tempe Daily News, July 11, 1977:Taking Permanent Possession -
The Department of Arizona, American Legion's annual Richard H. Bieri award to a state Legion Auxiliary unit who has given the most outstanding support and cooperation to its Legion Post went to Tempe's William Bloys Auxiliary Unit 2 this month - for a third successive year. And that means the local auxiliary now gets to keep it permanently. Taking "permanent possession" of the trophy at Bloys Legion Post and Auxiliary joint installation Saturday night were (from left) Tom Godbehere, outgoing post commander; Pat Jones, outgoing auxiliary president; and their successors Ethel and Pete Gillespie. Here to make the trophy presentation was Therma Bieri (not pictured), widow of the Legionnaire for whom the award was named.
