The Mikado, He's Not -

When Tempe Rotarians induct a new president, they do it up brown (and sometimes red, too)! And while incoming president Graham Walker, a sedate First National Banker, knew to expect the unexpected when it came his turn to undergo the annual induction shenanigans, Tuesday, the unexpected he expected wasn't quite what he expected! With conspiratorial help of Walker's wife and fellow Rotarian Tom Peck, the induction committee found out all about the banker's 20-years-ago stay in Japan while in the armed service. And then, the fun began!
Photos show a former Rotary President Leonard Monti looking a bit disbelieving as he proclaims "Gentlemen, our new president", Conspirator Peck presenting Walker with his "ceremonial robes," a kimono dug out of Walker's "past"; Walker and one of the "benefits" of being president; and the new Rotary president telling his favorite "lion" story - not, incidentally, in Japanese!
The film negative of this photograph is housed in box 2G7-C.
