DescriptionSign of the fall season coming in Tempe isn't heralded by seasonal migrations of birds-but by the flocking of football fans to the ticket sales gates at Arizona State University's Sun Devil Stadium. ASU student season tickets went on sale at the football field ticket office this week, and lines like this have been standard. ASU Sun Devils will kick off their season on Saturday, September 17, at newly-remodeled and enlarged Sun Devil Stadium, with Northwestern University as opponent. When the ball goes in the air for kick-off, you'll know for sure fall is upon us. -Tempe Daily News, September 7, 1977.
