DescriptionTaken from Tempe Daily News - January 24, 1978:Tempe Girls Club member Dedra Simpson, daughter of the Darwin Simpsons, and Carlos Garcia (left), president of the Tempe Girl's Club board of directors, get a congenial greeting from Mr. and Mrs. Frank Snyder as they call on the couple to collect old newspapers. Girls Club has initiated community service project of picking up newspapers for recycling - directly from homes of Tempe residents. They'll cover the following areas consecutively on first through fourth Saturdays monthly: North of Broadway; between Broadway and Southern; between Southern and Baseline; and south of Baseline. Anyone desiring the pickup service may call the girls club at 968-1253. Proceeds from sale of the newspapers will help provide activities and classes for girls of the Tempe area.
