DescriptionTempe United Way inaugurated a special Distinguished Service Award last year, noting the award would not be presented annually, but given only in those years when it is decided a United Way volunteer is deserving of singular attention. And the UW awards committee decided this year there was just such a person. Singled out for the award, presented at Friday's UW annual meeting and awards banquet, was Mrs. Edith Getz, getting congratulations above from (from left) Elden Barmore, who presented the award plaque on behalf of sponsoring United Bank; outgoing UW Campaign Chairman John Olson and Dr. Merwin Deever, re-elected during the evening to serve as UW board of directors president. Olson holds bouquet also presented to Mrs. Getz, who earned a standing ovation from the UW banquet guests. (see also 2201.19.2668 and 2669)The film negative of this photograph is housed in box 2G8-A.
