DescriptionShowered with gifts, Tempe Daily News, March 22, 1985 - Pat Huston, seated, was nearly snowed under with gifts when Tempe's Las Noches Woman's Club held a baby shower Wednesday at the Woman's Clubhouse. But Huston wasn't the honoree. The Tempean is a member of the Speakers Bureau for the East Valley Child Crisis Center and filled in for the center - which was the honoree. About 30 Las Noches members and guests attended the party and showered the center with gifts ranging from baby powder and oil to disposable diapers, clothing for infants to 3-year-olds, stuffed animals, and even a handmade child-size afghan. "There were really some lovely, lovely gifts," said chairwoman Barbara Vogel. And even the shower's decorated cake centerpiece was sent to the Mesa-based center for the enjoyment of the abused and neglected children it serves.
