The team was coached by Principal Elmer A. Row's wife.
Tempe played Scottsdale twice "preseason"... one at Tempe's home and one at Scottsdale's home. Tempe won both games. Scottsdale "couldn't hold a candle to our girls."
November 9th, 1922: Tempe played Mesa High at Tempe's home and Tempe won 29 to 20.
December 19th 1922: Tempe played Buckeye "away" at Buckeye. Tempe won 47 to 6.
January 16th, 1923: Tempe played Winslow, at home, and won 18 to 5.
As mentioned before, Tempe was matched again against Mesa for the "Valley Championship" game, at Mesa, and they tied.
As for the names of the girls on the team:
Top left, moving right: Luisa Sarrategui (sophomore), Gertrude Louise Cottrell (senior, and also an editor of the yearbook), Zella Teeter (junior), Anice Frankenburg (sophomore), Theresa Martha Martinez (junior), and Frances Josephine Mullen (sophomore).
Bottom left, moving right: Idella Haynes (sophomore), Dorothy Woods (sophomore), Leona Godfrey (sophomore), Lucile Hanna (senior), Ruth Woods (junior), and Ruth Vivian Morrow (senior and Class Treasurer).
