DescriptionGlass neon letters that once adorned the north facade of the Watson's Flowers building, 2525 E. Apache Blvd in Tempe. The letters were mounted directly to the exterior adobe wall, against a painted backdrop that spelled out "Watson's Flowers". in 2024, when the demolition of the building was imminent, the museum hired contractor Boots and Duke to remove the letters from the building, repair the glass and wiring, and create a metal mount for each word that is painted to replicate the original wall. These mounts were then put on stands with casters for easier transport, storage, and display.Note that there was also an ornate neon pole sign at the Watson's Flowers site. This was collected by the Mesa Preservation Foundation, restored, and installed at The Post in downtown Mesa along with several other historic neon signs.
