BiographyCame to the Tempe area c1868.
With William H. Kirkland, he began construction on the Kirkland-McKinney Ditch, the first canal on the south side of the Salt River, which went to lands on the east side of the Tempe Butte in 1870. He was a member of the original Swilling company, and was a shareholder in Tempe Irrigating Canal Company with one water right, on 19 Nov 1872. He was elected chairman of the Tempe Irrigating Canal Company on 9 October 1873, but resigned on 20 Dec 1873.
