DescriptionPeople swimming in the Salt River near Ash Avenue Bridge in 1923. The contruction of several Salt River Project dams upstream eventually cut off flow of the river and dried up many popular swimming holes. Recreation on the Salt River has been revived in the recent years with the contruction of Tempe Town Lake.
