DescriptionCity of Tempe was on its way to having a pretty big, but unwanted, "old swimming hole" this morning. Water from the flowing Salt River was jumping the bank and filling up a deep hole at the end of the parking lot at the city's maintenance complex at Priest Drive and the river bottom. Filled, the pit could be 40 feet deep with water. City crews, expecting more rain later, were working today to build up the river bank to prevent further inflow of water into the big hole.
