DescriptionPrinted in the Tempe Daily News April 16, 1971:

IN THE SPIRIT - Even Arizona Governor Jack Williams was getting into the spirit of things for Tempe's Centennial Days celebration. The governor (right) who will be speaker for tomorrow's 10:30am Centennial Days opening ceremonies at Tempe Shopping Center wore a Tempe Centennial tie when he appeared for a speaking engagement at Cook Christian Training school here, Thursday. And when old friend Mrs. Marge McKemy, chairman of Centennial women's participation division showed up to subpoena him for Kangaroo Kourt for "daring to appear in Tempe without a beard and without a no-shaving authorization badge," he got the charge dismissed when he proved effectively he did have, at least, "5 o'clock shadow!"
