DescriptionStudents in Jo Wilson's "Fashion Merchandising" seminar at Mesa Community College are concentrating on "Centennial" costumes this year, to tie in with Mesa's Centennial celebration in 1978. So when Tempe's Historical Museum in the Community Center complex, Rural Road and Southern Avenue, opened for a new season Tuesday, they were among the first visitors on hand-there especially to view fashions made by Tempe Salvation Army Auxiliary members and volunteers for Bicentennial Dolls collection now on permanent view at the museum. Mary Cochran (right), who spearheaded the SA Auxiliary project, shows students similarity between an old dress from museum's collection and outfit created for one of the Bicentennial dolls.-Tempe Daily News, September 1977.
