DescriptionFrom a photograph caption appearing in Tempe Daily News, April 3, 1978:

Same Old Ballot Box - Casting a ballot and counting the vote is a lot simpler these days with "punch card" ballots and computerized tallying of the election results replacing paper ballots and hand counting of the votes. But the old ballot box is still there for voters to put their marked ballots in. And it will still be carrying the ballots to city hall for the final election tallying Tuesday night. City Clerk Virginia Thompson, and the 11 men and women who have taken time out of their busy lives to get involved in city government by becoming candidates for city office, hope that scene above will be multiplied many thousand-fold for tomorrow's election - and that your hand will be among those putting a ballot in the ballot box.
