DescriptionFrom a photo caption appearing in Tempe Daily News, Saturday, April 22, 1978:White Orchid Tree - It's not often you find an orchid in a desert area but this white orchid tree (botanical name - 'Bauhinia Pururea Variagata') can be found in the backyard of Dr. Vic Miller, noted horticulturist. The tree is 18 years old and the mild winter encouraged the tree into full bloom. The tree got its name from the twin brothers by the name of "Baukin" because it has double lobed leaves.
