DescriptionFrom an article and photo caption appearing in Tempe Daily News, August 26, 1978:They Eat Pretty Good Too! - Tempe Firefighter Engineer Carroll Crawford presides at the stove at Tempe Fire Station 1 - as "chief cook" for TFDs A Shift. If the stainless steel stove looks a little battered, it's only because "we're still working on removing paint" from it, Crawford says. Crawford plans menus, shops for groceries and does the cooking for 14 hungry firemen. That's Capt. Terry Olson at right - he got stuck with dishwashing chore for the day.
