Real GEMS - With help of instructor Kathy Thompson and a doll, Curry Elementary School sixth grader Joel Anderson, center, learns how to burp a baby in a Good Emergency Mother Substitute (GEMS) class at Curry School. Joel and David Rhodes, right, McKemy Junior High seventh grader, were among more than 100 Tempe area youngsters enrolled for the annual summer class in babysitting, presented at Curry School last week by the Maricopa County Medical Auxiliary. Tempe chairman Thompson said increasing numbers of boys are enrolling in the babysitting class.
