DescriptionDocuments concerning Arizona Harris compiled by David Vitagliano:

Seven page (stapled, top left corner) manuscript entitled "Hometown Hero" by David Vitagliano, 2009. Typed, six page document, single-spaced, with one page typed bibliography. The manuscript discusses the day of Harris's death and then early life and hobbies.

Three page (unstapled, typed) interview response by brother (probably George Harris). The responses answer 15 of 17 questions. Bottom of third page has handwritten note by Harris's sister Ruth Burton to David Vitagliano that she does not have anything to add but will look up pictures and dates when she returns home.

Three page (double-sided, typed, stapled top left corner) letter from Vitagliano to George Harris in July 2004 detailing his interest in Arizona Harris, how Vitagliano came across George, and a list of 17 questions. Vitagliano also expresses interest in a phone interview.

Two page (double-sided) copy of pages 103-104 from Edward Jablonsky's book "Flying Fortress." These pages cover the day of Harris's death and contain a description of the incident from a pilot in another bomber who was nearby.

Two page (double-sided) print-out of information posted by Linda Fleener, a niece of Harris, about her uncle and the day he died.

One page background on the parents of Harris, Ethel Ruth Sampson and Charles E. Harris. It provides information on their families and how they met and married.

One page, glossy color photograph of three documents. The two documents on the left are short newspaper articles (London, AP, year unknown); the first article (Apr. 7) details his medal and death while the second (Nov. 17) details his career. The third is a letter to Charles (Harris) from Allan Richardson (address stamped at top) in March 1982. The letter mentions a magazine that was sent with the letter that includes a story about Arizona; Richardson gives his condolences also before turning to other topics.
