DescriptionPhotograph depicting the training of many young women for positions in the aircraft industry by the Department of Industrial Arts.

Caption from the Tempe 150th Anniversary exhibit:
During the war, numerous opportunities opened to women in the expanding defense industry. Professor Lewis Neeb – the man in glasses at right – was the director of ASU’s Industrial Arts program, which focused on instruction in wartime skills from 1940 onward. The lady in the sweater to his left is likely his wife, Mrs. Rayma Neeb, who strove to improve the lives and professional standing of women for many years.
