DescriptionHere is a bilingual and bicultural reference guide provided by Tempe Elementary Schools. This edition was published/in use in June 1973. In the guide's foreward, it says "this resource guide of games, songs, activities and reference materials has been prepared to assist the classroom teacher and building committees to implement the bilingual-bicultural policy of the Tempe Elementary School District." It also remarks near the end of the foreward that this program's development will continue for many years. The bilingual-bicultural policy stated that the intent of this program was to help the large population of Mexican-American children enrolling in the Tempe Elementary School District to get educational opportunities to help them become "functional members of the school population and to achieve communicative, citizenship, and occupational skills."Status
