He generally built small cottages of frame or adobe, which were available for sale or rent during 1920s and 1930s. He often built several similar houses in the same block. The Tempe News reports that Stolberg built at least thirty-four houses between 1921 and 1934. Most of his cottages were immediately sold, although several were used for rental houses. He was the contractor for the Blue Bird Auto Court Cottages in 1925, and also built offices, a carpenter shop, and a planing mill for his business on 4th Street and Maple (now demolished). The local newspaper credited Stolberg with relieving the shortage of modest housing in Tempe during the 1920s. Among the houses he built are those at 218, 220, and 222 E. 7th Street; several adobe house in Park Tract, and several others on 4th Street. Most of the houses he had built that survived into the 1980s have been demolished because they were located within the Tempe Redevelopment Area (downtown).
