BiographyBlacksmith and farmer.
Came to Tempe in 1895.
Shortly after his marriage, he moved from Missouri to Texas and raised sheep. After a few years they moved to New Mexico where he worked on the
development of the Pecos Valley Irrigation Project. Traveling overland with his family, they arrived in Flagstaff, Arizona, on 4 Jul 1888, and soon established a blacksmith shop.
Then he tried freighting from the Verde Valley to Jerome and Prescott.
Moved to Tempe in 1895.
Had a ranch on the Hermosa tract, where he grew watermelons.
Owned land near Tempe in 1900.
Owned 20 acres in section 33 in 1924.
Charter member of Masonic Lodge No. 23 at Florida, Missouri, and was believed to be one
of the oldest members of the order in Arizona. In 1925 lived at 920 Van Ness Ave. In 1926, '28, '30, '31 , -'32 lived at 836 Van Ness Ave.with wife Amanda Jane.
