BiographyBlacksmith.
Came to Tempe in 1878.
In June 1878, he left his farm in Missouri, fitted up his covered wagon and mule teams and he and his wife and six children headed west. After traveling almost three months they arrived at Dr. John L. Gregg's farm near Tempe on 20 Aug 1878.
About a week after arriving in Tempe, he was employed by C. T. Hayden as a blacksmith, to
repair the wagons and keep the mules well shod for the regular trips they made to the nearest railroad point for supplies.
About 1880, he returned to Missouri, then returned to Arizona about 1882 and bought land south of Tempe. He later moved to Florence, AZ, where he had his own blacksmith shop.
He was also the blacksmith for the contractor who built the Oracle road and the Florence canal.
Lived one mile south of Tempe.
