BiographyAttended the Tempe Normal School for two years, and then graduated from the University of Arizona with a BS degree in agriculture in 1916. Went to work for the Bartlett-Heard Ranch in 1916. Began as a cattle appraiser and advanced over the years to the position of vice president of the Dwight B. Heard Investment Company and manager of the Bartlett-Heard Co. Served as 2nd Lieutenant, 212th Field Artillery, in World War I.
After the war, he worked for Dr. A. J. Chandler. In 1920, he became the first city clerk for the Town of Chandler. He later resumed his career with the Heard companies, becoming general manager in 1933.
